DPK on Film - Roll 6 (Kodak TMAX P3200)

This is the roll of film that I’d been waiting for.

When I first dusted off my grandfather’s Pentax K1000 I knew that I wanted it to document the birth and childhood of my daughter, Eloise. At this point I’d run five rolls of film through the the 30 year old camera and learned that it was functioning properly. Because I needed a film stock that could handle some less than ideal lighting (Eloise ended up being born in the early hours of the morning!) I chose a fast film: Kodak TMAX P3200. I ended up loving the how this film handled in low light as well as the heavy grain that it produced in my shots.

As soon as Courtney started labor I loaded up this film and took some snaps of her at the house. These photos will forever be very special to me because of how strong and brave Courtney was (she gave birth naturally). We stayed at the house for about 12 hours before we headed to the birth center where we eventually met Eloise as 1: 21 am on April 29th.

The majority of the pictures I took on this roll are of Eloise and our families during the first week of her life. I’ll never forget how we were showered by so much love and help from friends and family. Just looking at these pictures takes me back to the most magical week of my life.

Again I went to The Darkroom to get this film developed and I was very happy with their work. As always, If anyone has any questions (or tips) I’d love to hear them!
